Call for Proposals

tiny ruby #{conf} 2026 is an affordable, one day, single-track Ruby conference in Helsinki, Finland.

1 October, 2026
Helsinki, Finland
50-100 Attendees

Proposal Guidelines

We are looking for talks that are about 30 minutes long. We don’t have Q&As after talks but instead there’s a generous break in-between each talk to allow for a good hallway track experience.

Non-technical talks are also welcome, as long as they are related to Ruby in some way or useful for an audience of Rubyists.

We are open to a variety of Ruby topics, from beginner to advanced. We want to have a nice range of topics, from super useful to super weird.

AI policy: Using AI to proofread your submission or otherwise help in a small way is acceptable; generating the proposal from the ground up is not. Remember that you need to be able to present your talk and ideas live in front of an audience.

Selection Process

Proposals are evaluated in a two-stage process where the first stage is anonymised, meaning that the reviewers cannot see the speaker details

Talk selections will be made within approximately two weeks of the CFP closing. All submitters will be informed of their proposal status as soon as possible after the CFP closes.

If your talk isn’t chosen, you will have a chance to buy a ticket at the early price even if they are no longer available for the general public.

Important dates:

  • CFP closes: 14 June, 2026
  • Notifications: end of June/beginning of July, 2026

Speaker Benefits

Selected speakers will receive:

  • Two complimentary conference tickets! One for you, one for a guest or to give away.
  • A travel and accommodation subsidy

We can cover up to €250 of travel expenses per talk. Please hold on to your hotel/flight receipts as we have to ask for them for tax purposes. Speakers are generally responsible for booking their own travel and will be reimbursed after the conference, but exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis.

Please note that the conference is run by a non-profit organization on a tight budget, so unfortunately we cannot offer higher than listed compensation to speakers.

If your company covers your travel expenses in their entirety, they can be listed as a travel sponsor on the event website.
